Rocket Launch Costs Have Fallen 96%, but the Next Drop Is Not Guaranteed
A study of 4,405 launches found that average launch costs fell from $87,023 per kilogram in 1960 to $3,868 in 2025. Reusability could push costs lower, but debris, market concentration and geopolitics may interfere.
